Smart Glasses · Import & China · 2026-09-23
This companion to our smart glasses comparison covers Meta Ray-Ban Display and alternatives from RayNeo, INMO, Xiaomi and Halliday. Being able to buy a device does not establish regional support or access to its AI backend.
What changed
Meta Ray-Ban Display now has display development tools, and RayNeo and INMO document developer routes too. The earlier claim that Rokid was the only practical option for custom AI was too strong. We assess documented integration paths; none of the devices here has been tested with an uncensored model by this site.
We reviewed manufacturer product pages, developer documentation and regional support information. We distinguish a supported API from a working custom-model implementation, and promotional prices from regular prices. Device-specific Japanese certifications, latency and battery life under continuous AI use have not been verified.
This is an English summary of the Japanese article. It retains the same purchasing considerations and corrections, including the distinction between the original Halliday DigiWindow glasses and Halliday G2.
From US$799. The product was announced with Meta Neural Band included. [1]
Meta's current support list places Display and Neural Band in the United States only. Japan is listed for regular Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses. Do not apply the regular models' availability to Display. Confirm return shipping, repair arrangements and prescription-lens support before importing. [2]
Voice interaction, translation, navigation and display text are separate capabilities. Support in a phone app or another model does not establish that every Display feature works in Japan. Check the intended country, app version, language and feature together.
On May 14, 2026, Meta introduced two routes: the Device Access Toolkit (DAT) for iOS/Android apps and Web Apps built with HTML, CSS and JavaScript. DAT v0.7 added text, images, video and buttons on Display. Advice stating that there is no display API is out of date. [3]
Meta permits local, cloud and edge processing, making a custom app with an external AI backend a development possibility. The toolkit remains in Developer Preview: general publishing is unavailable, but URL or release-channel testing is supported. Pairing requires the Meta AI app; country and developer-access conditions apply. [4]
This is not a built-in setting to replace Meta AI. It also does not establish that arbitrary LLM weights can run on the glasses.
We have not established the certification status of individual units. A seller's location alone is not a substitute for checking the device you will receive and the conditions for your intended use.
Shipping to your country and receiving official support there are separate questions.
| Model | Hardware focus | Custom AI route | Check before buying |
|---|---|---|---|
| RayNeo X3 Pro | Camera and binocular full-color display | Official Android / Unity ARDK | Regional variant, SDK access and current price |
| INMO Air3 | Camera input and binocular 1080p display | Android platform and external-model Agent integrations | Beta access, regional stock and specifications |
| Xiaomi AI Glasses | Camera and voice interaction | No general custom-backend procedure verified here | China-market app, language and region requirements |
| Halliday | DigiWindow and G2 use different displays | No public arbitrary-LLM procedure verified here | Generation, app, membership and shipping status |
Color display and AR development
Official regular price: US$1,299; check current offers
RayNeo documents a color MicroLED display, cameras, an Android-based app environment and Unity / Android ARDK. These provide a route to investigate custom AI apps. Confirm sensor APIs, developer-kit access and distribution conditions. Neither local LLM execution nor replacement of the standard Gemini assistant has been demonstrated here. [5]
External-model integration documented
Verify regional price and stock with the seller
INMO documents binocular 1080p and Android 14. Its beta Agent platform combines glasses inputs with models such as Llama, HTTP/MCP tools and cloud or self-hosted deployment. This corrects our earlier characterization of an unknown closed OS. Access, deployment instructions and compatibility with your model still need checking. [6]
China-market camera and voice AI
Check the exact variant on Xiaomi's Chinese store
Xiaomi's official materials describe Super XiaoAI voice functions for its glasses. We did not verify a general procedure for connecting an arbitrary AI backend. That is an evidence gap, rather than proof that development is impossible. Xiaomi offering model APIs elsewhere does not establish that the glasses' assistant can be exchanged. [7]
Keep generations separate
Check generation, membership and shipping terms
The original DigiWindow puts an image at the upper right of the field of view. G2 uses binocular waveguides and has no camera. Halliday says app data, settings and unused credits do not transfer between generations. Do not apply old prices, weight or optics to G2. We have not verified a public SDK route for arbitrary LLMs. [8]
For your own AI, establish how you will obtain camera or microphone input, send it to a phone or server, and return text or audio to the glasses. Meta, RayNeo and INMO offer different documented routes; each has implementation work and access conditions.
External inference and running model weights on the glasses are different architectures. No uncensored-model setup on this page has been verified on hardware. See the current comparison for additional candidates and their evidence.
Start with the exact manufacturer model. Amazon searches may include other generations, accessories and parallel imports; they do not verify an authorized listing.
